Adair D. Piper, 99, of Superior, died Saturday August 9, 2025, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Proctor.

Adair was born on December 27, 1925, the daughter of Leo and Pearl (Pine) Johnson. She had been an elevator operator for Hotel Duluth and was a clerk at JC Penney's in Superior.

Adair enjoyed gardening, all handiwork including sewing, embroidery, and macrame. She  enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and taking bus trips. She had a membership to the Duluth Playhouse, and was active with The ARC, a disability rights organization. Adair also enjoyed tracing her family history and found many interesting things including her mother's ancestors dating back to the Warwick Castle in England.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harry Blegen; second husband, Rolland "Rollie" Piper; sisters, Eleanore Hann and Janet Jackson; stepsons, Kenneth and Michael Piper; granddaughter, Lacey Chambers; and grandson, David Piper

Adair is survived by her children, Cynthia (James) Johnstone of Superior; Nancy (Dennis) Visger of Minong; Susan Blegen of Superior; stepchildren, Linda (Don) Ford of Superior, Nancy Price of Duluth, and Cathy Piper of Superior; grandchildren, Casey (Amanda) Johnstone of Superior, Carrie (Dan) Thomson of Neenah, and Brian (Meghan) Visger of Arlington; great grandchildren, Chase, Ty, Leo, Nora, Lydia, Rose, Gabe, and Grace; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N 28th St, Superior, WI. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James Johnstone, Dennis Visger, Casey Johnstone, Dan Thomson, and Brian Visger.
