Albert "Al" L. Rutkowski, age 89, of Poplar, WI, died Wednesday April 15, 2026, in his residence.

Al was born May 30, 1936, in Superior to Margaret (St. George) and John Rutkowski. He worked for the Buckbee Mears Company in St. Paul, MN. While living and working in St. Paul he would meet his future wife Gladys and they would marry in 1978.

Al was a member of the Hawthorne Assembly of God. He was active at the Senior Centers in Superior, Solon Springs, and Poplar. Al was also very proud of his Native American heritage. He lived a very active life in his retirement years, playing smear, bunko and bingo. He also loved going to the casinos and trying his luck on the penny slots. Al was a huge Price Is Right fan, He loved to tell stories of his past and his travels with his wife Gladys to anyone who would listen. Al had a beautiful singing voice, and he loved to have a good home cooked meal.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; sisters Donna Pitoscia, Janice Rochon, Phyllis Wick, Karen McGrath, Leola Beckwell, Ruth Ann Borghwart; his brothers Bernard St. George, Steven Rutkowski and Dick Rutkowski.

Al is lovingly survived by his sister Darlene Gustafson of Lakewood, WA. Also, by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to Al's wonderful landlord and friend, Terry White.

Visitation for Al will be held from 10:00 am Thursday April 30, 2026 until the 11:00 am Celebration of Life at the Hawthorne Assembly of God, 6366 County Road E, Hawthorne.
