Obituary

Alline A. Utyro, 90, of Superior, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Superior.

She was born May 27, 1920, in Wardsville, Missouri, daughter of Ben and Dorothea (Schwaller) Prenger.

The youngest of 12 children, Alline met her "soldier boy" Joe, who was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. They corresponded throughout the war and were married upon his return in 1945.

Alline was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Coffee Club Girls and was a volunteer for the week-day noon luncheons held at the church. She was the consummate church basement lady. Along with her friends from Holy Assumption, Alline was always there to assist with weddings, funerals, fund raisers, etc. She seldom said, "No", to volunteer work, even as her health was failing. Along with church activities and raising her five kids, Alline enjoyed needlepoint and knitting.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joseph; son, Daniel; granddaughter, Gina; sisters, Helen (Emil) Vanloo, Lavinia Prenger, Marie (Ray) Vanloo, Leona (Fred) Markway, Lucille (Louis) Landwehr, Stella (Harold) Schrimpf, Irene (Arthur) Kliethermes, Anastasia (Nelson) Barnhouse and Amelia (Howard) Basham; and brothers, Charles (Joanne) Prenger and George (Slyvia) Prenger.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Richard) Russom, Superior, and Anne Utyro, St. Paul, Minn.; sons, Greg (Charlene) Utyro, Superior, and Mark (Majel) Utyro, Solon Springs, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Assumption Catholic Church on Thursday, June 17, 2010. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and the Mass will begin at 11 a.m., with Reverend Father Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren Joseph Utyro, Cody Utyro, Corey Utyro, Abigail Utyro, Emily Utyro and Anya Russom.

The family extends a very special thank you to the staff at Golden Living Center Alzheimer's Care Unit for their kindness throughout these years. We knew our mom was in good hands and are grateful for all the love, support and compassion shown to her.
