Alphild C. Bergstrom, 96, formerly of Edgewood Vista in Hermantown, Minn., passed away on July 19, 2011 at Essentia Health in Duluth, Minn.

She was born on October 16, 1914 in Bennett, Wis. to Richard and Elin Klang. She married Luther Bergstrom of Lake Nebagamon, Wis. and celebrated 59 years of marriage before he died in 1994. They lived in Superior during the school year and in the Lake Nebagamon area in the summer.

After their seven sons were raised, her husband encouraged her to return to college. In 1967, she graduated from the U of W - Superior with a degree in library science. She worked as a librarian at MacArthur Elementary School and Denfeld High School in Duluth for 10 years before retiring in June of 1976.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Martin, Harold, Roy, and Oscar Klang, Gertrude Sutherland, Ruth Keskinen, Elsie Peterson, and Evelyn Anderson; and her parents.

She is survived by sons, Wils (Myrna), Bruce (Shirley), Alan Peter (Dorothy), Thomas (Judy), Michael (Jacque), Timothy (Debra) and Mark (Linda); 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Nebagamon on Saturday, July 23rd from noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Darrell Kyle officiating. Burial will be at the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert, Paul, Tim, Eric, Kevin and Andrew Bergstrom.
