Obituary

Andrew J. "Hudy" Hudacek, 83, of Superior, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice, Duluth.

He was born November 12, 1926 in Lendak, Czechoslovakia, son of Stefan and Maria (Koscakova) Hudacek.

Hudy was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a life member of the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post 1091.

His work history included Fond-Du-Luth Casino as a cashier since 1999 and prior to that he owned and operated Hudy's Tavern for over 30 years.

Hudy enjoyed gambling and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, John, Stephen (Steko) and Anthony (Tony); and nephews, Andy and Daniel.

Survivors include his life long friend, Luella Severson, Superior; brothers, Frank (Gloria) Hudacek, Joseph (Suzie) Hudacek and Mark (Linda) Hudacek, all of Superior; sisters, Irene (Wally) Puchalla, Duluth, Rose (Jim) Stenstrom, Minneapolis, and Mary Hudacek, Superior; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, May 21, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with military rites accorded by the combined Thomas F. Stein VFW Post # 1091 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435.

Inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Hospice for their loving care.
