Angela Yvonne Vendela, 57, of South Range, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Essentia Health, Duluth.
She was born May 22, 1953 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughter of Josie (Martinez) and Jessie Rivera.
On September 3, 1977 in Superior, Angela Yvonne Rivera and Thomas C. Vendela were united in marriage.
Angela worked many years for the U.S. Forest Service, Douglas County Department of Forestry and as town clerk for the Town of Oakland.
She enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking, watching stock car racing and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Thomas; son, Gary Vendela, South Range; daughters, Tina (Saikou) Badjie, Monticello, MN, and Lisa (David Mut) Vendela, Fort Polk, LA; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey and James Vendela, all of Superior, and Kaddijah Badjie, Monticello, MN; parents, Josie Rivera, Colorado Springs, CO, and Jessie Rivera, Denver, CO; brothers, Jesse Rivera, Florida, Anthony Rivera, Denver, CO, and Joseph (Crystal Potter) Rivera, Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews; and pet dog, "Buddy".
Visitation will be from 9:30 until the 11:30 a.m. service Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend Father Ronald Olson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Richard Vendela, Ronald Vendela, Timothy Goddard, Carl Mencel, John Erickson and Cliff Hoyt.
The interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
Following the committal service, everyone is invited to a luncheon at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Superior.
