Obituary

Annette Barker, 54, born October 2, 1963 in Superior, Wisconsin passed peacefully on September 27, 2018 surrounded by family after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She left us before she could turn another year older, less than a week before her birthday which she notoriously disliked.

She was a beloved mama, daughter, sissy, aunt, friend and nurse. Survived by her parents Jim Ronchak and Muriel (Cary) Weber, in-laws Edward and Roxanne Barker, the love of her life, best friend and husband for the past 15 years Randy Barker, her super cool and funny children Alyssa (Mike) Strom, Rachel Samuelson, her favorite boy in the whole world Nolan, her wonderful siblings and their families Christopher Ronchak and Kris Johnson (Matty, Marky and Kaysha), the Alaska Valleys (Cheryl, Paul, Joseph and Isaac), brother-in-law Michael Barker, her adorable puppy Maggie, her vast extended family, her Essentia co-workers and her incredible, amazing community of friends.

She was welcomed into a beautiful paradise by her best friend Todd, Big Daddy, Pauly, one of her hockey mom besties Andrea and her uncles and grandparents.

Annette found her calling as a nurse practitioner and loved helping patients.  She worked for 32 years within the St. Mary's/Essentia community starting in the NICU, in Hermantown primary care and lastly in Neurosurgery. Most recently, she was recognized as Nurse Practitioner of the Year. She loved being a hockey (and baseball) mom, trying new restaurants and foods, staying up to date with the latest fashion and makeup trends, Pilates, a good bottle of wine, being on the North Shore and spending the summers at the Boulder Lodge. She was a brilliant, beautiful, funny woman whose impact inspires us all to be kinder, better people each day. She will be forever missed.

Please join us to celebrate her beautiful life on Friday, October 5, 2018. Visitation starting at 10am with a service to follow at 12pm at Cathedral of Christ the King Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Annette Barker Scholarship Fund at the College of St. Scholastica.
