Anthony 'Tony' Quinones, of Superior, died Wednesday October 11, 2023, at Elysian Senior Living in Duluth.

He was born June 13, 1936, in El Paso, Texas, son of Elisa (Natividad) and Nemesio 'Nick' Quinones.

Tony honorably served his country with the Marines, Army National Guard, and the Coast Guard Reserve, for a total of 25 years. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1961.

His college education included a Bachelor's degree in 1962 and a Master's degree in 1964, from Texas State University.

Tony completed his internship at San Antonio State Hospital, before starting his career as a counsellor with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Tony was an avid golfer and also enjoyed going to the Superior Y. He was a longtime supporter and donor of the Y and UW-Superior.

Serving as a volunteer was also a priority for Tony.  He was a Red Cross volunteer, hospice volunteer and a cancer research volunteer. His memberships included BPOE Lodge #403 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Nemesio 'Nick' and Elisa Quinones; and his brother, Mitch Quinones.

Survivors include his 3 sons, Jeff (Kim) Quinones of Lake Nebagamon, Wayne Quinones of Superior, and Scott Quinones of Superior; sisters, Aurora and Sarah; brothers, Willie, Jimmy, and Ralph; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon Mass of Christian Burial at Cathedral of Christ the King Church, 1111 Belknap St., with Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in Veteran's Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

If desired, memorials in Tony's name may be made to the Superior Y or to the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross.
