Arlene 'Pat' Johnson, 90, longtime Superior resident passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 in Superior.
Pat was born July 5, 1926 in Littlefork, Minnesota to Amy and John Kirkpatrick. She moved to Upper Michigan at age nine. Pat attended Hulbert High School, where she graduated as the class valedictorian in 1945.
After graduation, Pat came to Superior to work, where she met Edwin 'Beeb' Johnson. They married in 1947. She was well known in the community for her gardening knowledge, bird watching and birding knowledge, expert bread making, and her wonderful sense of humor. Pat found her calling as a fiber artist, winning numerous ribbons and awards for her weaving.
Pat was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a current member of Faith United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 46 years Edwin 'Beeb,' and siblings.
Pat is survived by her loving children Sharon Sivertsen-Modrijan, Karin Dahlberg, Roxanne Ryberg, Laurie Huffner and Edwin Johnson; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special niece and weaving buddy Kay Staven; many friends and neighbors, as well as her Butler Park family.
Pat's wish was to have a private family service with visitation from 3-4 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 19, and private funeral service at 11 am, Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 with Pastor Joel Certa-Werner officiating in Downs Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
