Arnold T. 'Sonny' Ukkola, 78, of South Range, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at his residence.

He was born in Superior on October 15, 1940, the son of Theodore and Irene Ukkola.

Arnold was a welder for Clyde Iron and Superior-Lidgerwood-Mundy. He was a member of the Boilermakers and Steelworkers Union.

Sonny was a lifelong hunter and fisherman and instilled a love for nature in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He brightened lives with his sense of humor.  He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoyed throwing a ringer at horseshoes and playing golf.

He joined the one woman in his life that he truly loved, she was his soul mate, Clara, his wife of 39 years, who died in 2001; he was also preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gladys, Patsy, and James.

Arnold is survived by his children, Carol (William) Abrahamzon of Caledonia, MN, Diane (David) Munger of South Range, and Susan (Carlos) Vasquez of Belize; grandchildren, Nichole (Christopher) Howard, Crystal (Ryan) Hoyt, Jennifer (Andrew) Erickson, Julie (TJ) Clark, Melissa (Megan) Landon, Willie (Heather) Abrahamzon, Jeff 'Stick' McKenna, and Jonathan Munger; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Ukkola of Green Bay, WI and David (Debbie) Ukkola of Virginia, MN; and his special friend Becki Finnessy.

His service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th Street, Superior. Visitation one hour prior.

Burial will be in Maple Memorial Cemetery in Maple, WI.
