Balbino "Bino" Villones, 85 of Duluth Heights, died on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
He was born on August 28, 1937, in the Bronx, New York to Balbino and Jean (Hoenig) Villones.
Bino was a highly decorated US Air Force veteran serving for 27 years and he retired as a space track surveillance operator. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by the University of MN Duluth for more than 28 years.
Bino was an excellent cribbage player winning numerous tournaments and nationally ranked. He loved watching all sports on T.V., especially New York teams, such as the Giants, Yankees, and Islanders. Bino was a longtime fan and season ticket holder for the UMD hockey team.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, his sense of humor and his love of cooking and good food.
Bino was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard and sister, Lynne.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy; his daughters, Kristina (Kent) Peterson, and Michele (Joshua) Cheresnick; his sons, Richard Villones, and Bob (Julie) Villones; his sister, Anne Principe; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and his nephew, Michael Villones.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Oneota Cemetery. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
