** PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO IMPENDING WEATHER, BARB'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE HAS BEEN MOVED TO FRIDAY MARCH 20th FROM 4:00 - 7::00 pm **

Barbara Lou Brown, born on the 3rd of June, 1940, passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2026, aged eighty-five.

Barbara grew up in Superior, WI and graduated high school from Superior Central in 1958. She was a member of the Bad River Band of Chippewa Indians. She became a CNA and a proud member of the Moose Club in Superior.

She was a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. Barbara was loving and larger-than-life, with a humorous spirit and a knack for giving fun gifts.

She married Oswald Burkhart. They loved to travel and spent time in California before exploring the rest of the United States. She enjoyed being busy and continued to work various jobs, her favorite being her time as a bus driver.

After Ozzie's death, Barb was blessed to find love again with Francis Brown.

She enjoyed rummage sales and loved visiting her sisters in Florida each winter. She became a member of the Red Hats. She stayed active in the Phoenix Villa community, where she tended to others.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine Garrity and Antoine Russell Bradley, brother Robert "Buddy" Bradley, sister and brother-in-law Margie Kay and Stan Brown, sister Mary Garrity, wonderful husbands Ozzie and Francis, favorite uncle Ken and aunt Mary Meyers, niece Kelly Brown, nephew Joe Brown, and nephew LCPL Adam Van Alstine.

Survived by sister Bessie (LeRoy) Johnson, brother Paul (Dianne Nelson) Garrity, cousins that were like siblings, and many nieces and nephews who she loved as if they were her own.

Barbara's incredible spirit of strength, love, and independence are traits she modeled for us and we will continue to live by.

A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm, with a time of sharing at 2:00 pm, Sunday March 15, 2026 at VIP Pizza in Superior.
