Barbara Ann Waters, 72, of Superior, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 4, 1937 in Superior, daughter of Bartley and Violet (Dahlin) Miller.
Barbara was a graduate of Superior East High School and resided in Superior for most of her life.
On March 30, 1957 in Duluth, Barbara Ann Miller and Dale W. Waters were united in marriage.
Her work history included Minneapolis, where she worked briefly as a secretary; and Duluth, as a bookkeeper for Superwood; however, most of her life was in Superior as a homemaker.
Barbara's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed camping at Totogatic Campground in Washburn County, fishing, gambling, knitting many Afghans, traveling to Las Vegas and Hawaii, cooking, baking and for a short time she was a caterer at the former Polish Club in Superior.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and baby brother, John Bartley Miller.
Survivors include her husband of over 53 years, Dale W. Waters; sons, Jeff (Julie) Waters, Maple, Ken Waters, Superior, and Mark (Shanna) Waters, Superior; 6 grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Roger) Heinen, Foxboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Reverend Father Andrew Ricci, rector of Cathedral of Christ the King officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Waters, Ken Waters, Mark Waters, Roger Heinen, Ron Shelerud and George Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara's grandchildren.
