Benjaman LeRoy "Benny" Foust, 62, of Superior, Wis. died in his residence on Thurs., Jan. 13, 2011.

He was born Mar. 11, 1948 in Prairie Farm, Wis.

Benny had been a resident of Superior since 1977 and worked in several departments of the Challenge Center.

He is survived by his sister, Cindy Boschee of Isanti, Minn. and his "adopted family, Carrie and Brian Wallin and Johnnie and Shirla Sharp of Superior. He was "Uncle Benny" to Alek and Stephanie Wallin. He is also survived by his extended family at the Challenge Center.

From 1978 through 2004 he was active in the Special Olympics participating in walking, track and field, swimming and bowling.

He liked to play cards and carried a deck in his pocket, so he was ready to challenge anyone to a game of War or Crazy 8. He loved music and dancing. He would play beautiful melodies on his harmonica and enjoyed strumming his guitar. He liked to participate in karaoke and would exhibit a strong stage presence.

He watched professional wrestling and had a great talent in being an impressionist.

He adored all animal pets.

Benny enjoyed good beer, coca-cola, chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, ice cream and cheeseburgers.

Benny liked a "jingle in his pocket" and would manage to coax five bucks from certain people. This money would burn a hole in his pocket and he became very anxious to spend it on special treats for himself.

This gentle, flirting person had a loveable personality and an infectious and contagious laugh.

"Benny's family" would like to extend a very special thank you to both the Essentia Health Hospice Staff and the Northern Bridges Staff for the kindness and care they
had shown Benny.

His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Challenge Center, 39 N. 25th St. E., Superior and a private memorial service for his housemates and staff will be at 4:00 p.m. in his residence, 3317 N. 21st St., Superior.

Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., is assisting with the arrangements.
