Obituary

Bernice K. Brown, 89, died Monday, August 24, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

She was born March 5, 1920 in Superior and was a life long resident.

Bernice was a beautician for forty-nine years, was owner and operator of Thompson's Beauty Salon where she worked with her mother Olga, her daughter Claudia and her sister Lucille. They started out in The Board of Trade building and later relocated to the Androy Hotel. She loved beauty work and her clients.

Bernice was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the cabin on Lake Amnicon, knitting, crocheting, and crafts. She loved being with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Bernice is survived by three daughters; Cynthia Gunderson of Wauwatosa Wi, Candace (Charles) Gilderman of Poplar and Pamela (Andrew) Stadler of Ashland, ten grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, a daughter Claudia Johnson, a great-grandson Kenny Holt, her parents Olga and John Thompson, three sisters Dorothy Braun, Hortense Manley, Lucille Barton, and one brother Lester Thompson.

Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 at Downs Funeral Home, 19th& Ogden with Rev Dr. Mark Hillmer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Stadler, Kory Gilderman, Jeremy Frantz, Scott Johnson, Rocco White and Andy Stadler.
