Beth Lucille Shykes, 93, of Superior, WI, died on Sunday September 27, 2026, at her home.

Beth was born in Iron River on January 22, 1933, to John and Margaret (Lavin) McLean.

She married John Sykes on October 24, 1953. They were married for 48 years. She was a bookkeeper for Jack’s businesses and later worked for H & R Block. She was a “helper” Grandma for several years at Northern Lights Elementary School.

Beth loved to read, do puzzles and garden. She and Jack enjoyed bowling on the Tuesday night mixed doubles league. She also loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Beth was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret; husband Jack; son Douglas J. Shykes; daughter Jacquelyn B. Shykes and her son-in-law Greg Day.

Beth is survived by her children Kurt A. (Jean) Shykes, Peggy T. Day, Amy L. (Anthony Lacour) Nichols and Todd M. Shykes; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brother John W. McLean. By many nieces and nephews and her special friends Char, Mary and Anna.

A visitation will be held at the Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th Street, Superior, on Wednesday October 14, 2026, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating.

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
