Betty Lou (Ray) Abrahamzon, 85, a former resident of South Range, Wis. died peacefully with family by her side on Tues., Oct. 6th, 2015, in Villa-Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center, Superior, Wis., where she resided the last few years.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. Sept. 16, 1930 to Ben B. and Nora Evalyn Ray. In 1946, when she was 16, her family moved to South Range. She attended Central High School in Superior graduating in 1948.
In addition to being a wife and mother, she enjoyed working for many years at the Middle River Health Facility.
She and Henry were married fifty-five years until he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2005. She struggled with her health and was able to remain at home on the farm, with the loving help of her children.
She loved being a wife and homemaker and especially enjoyed her role as mother. She shined the brightest when holding and nurturing each newborn son, daughter, grandchild or great-grandchild in her arms, rocking them and/or feeding them.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Catharine; and a brother, Frank Ray.
Survivors are her sons, Henry Daniel "Dan" Abrahamzon, Edward Allen (Jean) Abrahamzon, William Eric "Bill" (Carol) Abrahamzon, identical twins, Paul Kendall (Jeanne) Abrahamzon, and Pat Randall Abrahamzon; daughters, Susan LeeAnn Abrahamzon and Catharine LouAnn (Joe ) Eliason; her grandchildren, Kim Neal, Sarah (Curt) Vandertie, Erik Abrahamzon, Jason (Jennifer) Abrahamzon, Nick Abrahamzon, Mark (Kayla) Saari, Daniel Saari, Jennifer Abrahamzon, Julie Abrahamzon, Willie Abrahamzon, Lane Eliason, Joey Eliason, Kendall Abrahamzon, Johnnie Abrahamzon and Travis Abrahamzon; her great-grandchildren, James and Britta Neal, Sam Abrahamzon, Jessi and Tyler Saari, Landon and Lillian Vandertie, and Jackson, James and John Abrahamzon; brothers, Jack (Carol) Ray, Jim (Rachel) Ray, Ben (Kathy) Ray, Jr.; and sisters, Joann Peterson and Nancy (Noman) Kennedy.
Her memorial service will be Thurs., Oct. 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Ave., Superior with Rev. Luke Oliver officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private family committal prayers will take place at the Poplar Cemetery at a later date.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
