Betty R. Bender, 84, of Superior, died Monday, January 2, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth, MN surrounded by her family.

She was born February 8, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, daughter of Nels and Ruth (Donathon) Andrews.

In addition to her role as homemaker, Betty was a Watkins dealer for many years.

Betty was a God loving lady and an active member of the Superior Salvation Army where she taught Sunday School for over 10 years and was a leader in the Home League. Helping people was a priority of hers.

She enjoyed baking and cooking. Her baked beans were second to none. Collecting various types of elephants was also a passion of hers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Orville; and daughters, Theresa and Donna.

Survivors include her son, Dan (Wendy) Bender, South Range; daughter, Doreen (Jim) Timmerman, Superior; grandchildren, Alicia, Charlie and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Kacey, Joey, Allison and Hayden; brothers, John Isaacson, Duluth, MN, David Isaacson, Chisholm, MN, and Gary Isaacson, Virginia, MN; several nieces and nephews and other family.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Superior Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue, Superior. Officiating will be Captain Jasen Elcombe and Captain Kimberly Elcombe.

Pallbearers will be Dan Bender, Charlie Bender, Richard Bender, Jim Timmerman, Gary Salverson and Rick Salverson.

Burial will be in Hibbing, MN, at a later date.
