Betty Jane Johnson, 88, died Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Essentia Health in Duluth.

She was born on September 17, 1936, in Minong, WI to Edward and Fern (Wilcox) Lamberg.

Betty was a homemaker and raised her children until they became school age and then was employed with the Superior School District at the Nemadji School as a playground aid, and then went on to be a cook at Nemadji School as well as Four Corners Elementary School.

Betty loved going on casino trips and playing Bingo with family and friends; she was a lucky lady! She will always be remembered for her wonderful laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Helmer R. Johnson; daughter, Ruth A Johnson; sister, Eleanor Paulson; and brothers, Edward, Robert, and Gerald.

Survivors include her children, Karen Poquette of Eau Claire, and Scott of Superior; son-in-law, Richard Franik; brother- and sister-in-law, Arlen and Sandy Johnson; sister-in-law, Kay Lamberg; grandchildren, Phillip, Amanda, John, Marc, and Samuel (Rose Strahan) Poquette; great grandson, Mason Poquette; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Superior Town Hall, 4917 S State Road 35, Superior.

The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Minong.
