Beverly 'Bev' Rose Ovesen, 92, of Superior, died Wednesday October 12, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
Bev was born in St. Ignatius, Montana on May 28, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Landigreen) Anderson. She was a member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation.
She graduated from Superior Central High School with the class of 1948. She had previously worked for NBC Bank and Lignell Drug.
She married Eugene 'Gene' Ovesen on June 30, 1950, at Concordia Lutheran Church and they celebrated 69 years of marriage until his passing in 2019.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Beta Sigma Phi, the Superior Curling Club, and the Nemadji Women's Club.
Bev enjoyed curling, golfing, and sewing. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and rosemaling. She was also an avid cook. Most important to her was spending time with her family and was loved for her unique sense of humor. Her biggest joy was attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; twin great-grandsons, Sutton & Fletcher; and sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Frank Vashaw and Dorothy Johnson.
Bev is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Scott) Peterson and Susan (Tim) Shepard; grandchildren, Tim (Quentin), Andy (Kori), Katie Rose (Jason), Adam (Donna) and Kyle (Megan); 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Charlee Rose, Ella, Briggs, Emma, Caleb, Blair, Gordon, Kevin, and Tina; brother-in-law, Dave Johnson; nieces and nephews, Charleen, David, Eugene, Chuck, Buddy, Lance, and Lee.
Visitation will be on Saturday October 22 nd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St. with Gary Banker and Rev. Michelle Rowell co-officiating. The family requests that masks be worn for the services.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of St. Luke's Hospital and Hospice and to the staffs at Villa Marina and Twin Ports Health Services for their wonderful care of Bev.
If desired, donations may be made in Bev's name to St. Luke's Hospice.
