Beverly L. Shafer, 95, formerly of Superior and currently of Granite Falls, MN, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Granite Falls Care Center.

Beverly was born in Superior on Sept. 1, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Lucille (Kruse) LaChapelle.

She had worked for many years as an activities director at Middle River Health and Rehab Center.

Beverly was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and the Altar Society. She was a very active member of the St. Mary's Superior Auxiliary. Beverly was also a charter member and past president of the American Business Women's Assoc., a member of the Douglas County Activities Director Association, and served on the advisory board of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan McCormack; and granddaughter, Rebecca Baer.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Claudia Washburn; daughter-in-law, Diane McCormack, grandchildren, Troy (Sandy) McCormack, Matthew (Sheila) Baer, John Baer, and Nissa Washburn; 7 great grandchildren and many extended family.

Visitation will be held on Mon. Jan. 31 ^st from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. with Fr. James Tobolski as officiant. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

If desired, memorials in Beverly's name may be made to the Essentia St. Mary's Superior Hospital Auxiliary.
