Beverly Jane Willoughby, 90, of Iron River, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

She was born in Oulu, WI on December 16, 1928 the daughter of Eino and Rose Wedenoja. She graduated from Port Wing High School.

She married Wesley W. Willoughby on July 2, 1948 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage before his passing on April 16, 2018.

Beverly was a devoted mother and grandmother that enjoyed fishing, ice skating, and roller skating. She was a self-taught artist. Her family will treasure her paintings. She also enjoyed studying natural herbs and vitamins for drug free healing. She was a member of Bad River Auxiliary Unit 25 at Odanah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and sister, Lucille Johnson; and brothers, Kenneth, Harold, and Melvin Wedenoja.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Shepard of Superior; sons, Dwight (Kathy) of Superior, Jeffrey of St. Paul, MN, and Todd (Kari) of Iron River; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St., with Rev. H. Duane Aslyn officiating. Interment will be in Iron River City Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Encompass Assisted Living for their loving care of Beverly.
