Bonnie J. Nikstad, 73, of Summit Township, died Wednesday May 28, 2025, at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Bonnie was born in Superior on November 26, 1951, the daughter of Raymond and Gale (Pierson) Madsen. She married Richard 'Dick' Nikstad on December 9, 1967, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage

Bonnie held a variety of positions throughout her career, most recently at General Mills, where she retired in 2007. She dedicated over 30 years of service as a member of the Town of Summit Volunteer Fire Department.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, quilting, and golfing. She loved to attend her nieces' and nephews' sporting and music events.  She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her "littles" (nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren).

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jeanne Rae; and brother, Roy "Torino" Madsen.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Dick; sons, Chad Nikstad of Superior and Michael (Karen) Nikstad of Superior; grandchildren, Jeffrey Burhans, Sylvi Nikstad, Adam Burhans, Sarah Nikstad, and Alex Nikstad; siblings, Leslie "Butch" (Kathy) Madsen of Rice Lake, Norm (Sue) Madsen of Cottage Grove, MN, Kay (Jim) Peters of Dowling Lake, WI, and RaeAnn (Mike) Edwards of Superior; godsons, Ryan, Justin, and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews who were greatly loved.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6th at 11:30 at Summit Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1:00-4:00p.m. at the Superior Town Hall, 4917 S State Rd 35, Superior.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Summit Volunteer Fire Department.
