Brenda Joyce Summerfield's Obituary
Brenda Joyce Summerfield, 58, of Superior Township, Wis. died Fri., Mar. 7, 2014 in Solvay Hospice House, Duluth, Minn. following an eleven year battle fighting her illness.
She was born Nov. 3, 1955 in Superior to Joyce L. (Pinkoski) and Albert C. Brown and remained a lifelong area resident.
Her work history included working for Superior Memorial Hospital; Dr. James Reedstrom's Superior Eye Care; and Murphy Oil, from which she retired due to her disability.
Brenda was a member of Holy Assumption Church and the Women's Aux to the
V. F. W.
She was very dedicated to family and friends.
On Feb. 16th, Brenda and her husband, Dale, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Troy Flaten) Summerfield and Rochelle "Shelly" Summerfield all of Superior; a "special" daughter, Courtney King of Superior; grandchildren, Chase Summerfield, Morgan Flaten, Dale J. Summerfield and a "special" grandchild, Miles Morris all of Superior; her mother, Joyce Brown of Superior; a daughter-in-law, Melissa (Thomas) Morris of Superior; two sisters, Belinda (Roger) Olson of Superior and Bonny Vechell of Ingleside, Tex.; a brother, Albert S. (Wanda) Brown of Champlain, Minn.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita J. Summerfield in 1992; a son, Dale J. "Duke" Summerfield in 2003; her father, Albert Brown in 2011; and a brother-in-law, Glen Vechell in 2013.
Visitation will be Wednesday in Downs Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. Wake Service. Visitation will resume at Holy Assumption Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and continue until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson will be the Celebrant and the committal prayers will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Morris, John and Scott Sanders, Kevin Cain, and Pat and Mike McPartland.
