Obituary

Calvin P. Pearson, 58, of Superior, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, following a lengthy illness surrounded by family and friends.

He was born June 21, 1951 in Superior, son of Lyle and Elizabeth (Nicoletti) Pearson.

Calvin was a graduate of Northwestern High School and University of Wisconsin-Superior.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

On July 13, 1974, in Poplar, Wisconsin, Calvin Pearson and Patricia Moreland were united in marriage.

His work history included Great Lakes Storage and Raymond Moe Construction.

Cal attended Cloverland Covenant Church.

For many years he was actively involved with 4-H. He loved horses and was actively involved in the Great Northern Classic Rodeo, Chequamegon E-Z Riders and Free Spirit Riders. He enjoyed going on trail rides in Wisconsin and North Dakota. Over the course of many years his interests included karate, racquetball, and auctions sales.

Preceding him in death was his father, Lyle Pearson in 1992.

Survivors include his wife, Patti; daughter, Marisa Pearson, River Falls, Wis.; mother, Elizabeth Pearson, Cloverland; brothers, Melvin (Dona) Pearson, Rice Lake, Wis., Rodney (Kristy) Pearson and Roy (Becky) Pearson, both of Cloverland; sister, Louise (Dennis) Alholm, Cloverland; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, and will resume at 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, at Mission Covenant Church, Poplar. Reverend Charles Ells and Reverend Lee Downey will co-officiate.

The active pallbearers will be Steve Sikkink, Greg Sislo, Don Leighton and Ray Moe. Honorary pallbearer will be Arlyn Hunter-Jensen.
