Carl Verne Paulson III, 61, a former Superior, Wis. resident, currently of Huntsville, Alabama died June 3, 2011 in a Huntsville hospital.
He was born in Shell Lake, Wis. on April 12, 1950 to Eleanor and Carl Paulson, Jr. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Superior. He was a 1968 graduate of Superior Senior High.
For several years Carl served his country in the U. S. Army, during Vietnam and Desert Storm and also having been stationed in Germany. Following his enlistment he was employed by Red Stone Arsenal in Huntsville of which he retired from.
Carl is survived by his children, Alex (Steve) Haig of New Hampshire, Susan (David) Murphy of Illinois, Janice (Paul) Tehrrell of Iowa, and Kevin and Ryan Paulson of Illinois; his mother, Eleanor Paulson of Superior; nine grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Paulson of Illinois and Steve Paulson of Wisconsin; a sister, Pamela (George) Petticrew of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, Carl Paulson, Jr.; a niece, Lindsey Paulson; maternal grandparents, Fern and Edward Lamberg; and paternal grandparents, Carl Paulson, Sr. and Margaret (Harry) Johnson.
Visitation will be Sat., Aug. 6th in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service with Rev. Mark A. Holmes, pastor of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church officiating. Committal prayers will take place at Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Richard I. Bong Post No. 435.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., is assisting Carl's family with arrangements.
