Carl A. Renoos, 92, of Superior, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Twin Ports Healthcare, Superior.
He was born March 22, 1927 in Superior, son of Evan and Ingeborg (Reitan) Renoos.
Carl was a 1945 graduate of Superior Central High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged.
On April 22, 1950 in Superior, Carl Arthur Renoos and Lois Elaine Peterson were united in marriage.
His work included the Soo Line Railroad, Superior Police Department, Juvenile Court Officer, and concluded as director of the Douglas County Comprehensive Planning Board. During his retirement years he served on the Douglas County Board of Supervisors.
Carl was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, the American Legion Post 499 in Gordon, Elks Lodge 403 and Moose Club 606.
He loved spending time at Lake of the Woods in Solon Springs with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Nancy Havron; granddaughter, Heather Johnson; great-grandson, Kaiden Johnson; and brothers, Norman, Edwin and William Renoos.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Lois; children, Karen (Art) Martin and John (Mary) Renoos; grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) Johnson, John Carlson, Shelby (Jonah) Renoos, Chelsey (David) Taylor, and Tyler (Alison) Renoos; and great-grandchildren, Isabel, Aeven, Olyvia, Larse, Wallis, Helena, Leonie, Oliver and Wesley.
Pallbearers will be Melissa Johnson, John Carlson, Shelby Renoos, Chelsey Taylor, Tyler Renoos and Larse Ausing.
Visitation will begin at 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, January 17 th at Concordia Lutheran Church, with Reverend Michelle Rowell officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435, at Concordia Lutheran Church.
Following the military honors, the family invites everyone to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
Private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Superior.
The Renoos family extends a special thank you to the North Country Independent Living caregivers for the loving care they provided Carl.
