Carol W. Swanson, 93, of Superior, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, surrounded by her family.

Carol joined Hammond Avenue Presbyterian Church upon her arrival in Superior in 1942. She served in various roles including Deacon and Elder and was active in 'Presbyterian Women' and most recently Prayer Chain and assisting the Financial Secretary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 7 sisters; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and several close friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Deane (Patty Mertzig) Roe, Superior, and Pat (Doug) Nagle, Solon Springs; son, Ken (Barbara) Swanson, Racine, WI; 7 grandchildren, Shelley Roe, Robert (Valorie) Maki II, Angela Nagle-Irato, Andrew (Patti) Swanson, Kate (Travis) Nelson, Elliott Swanson, and Celeste Swanson; 10 great-grandchildren, Erika Benedickt, Justin, Alexis, Paige, and Matt Swanson, Adelaide, Jack, and Luke Nelson, Rachel, and Rebecca Irato; and several nieces, nephews and dear friend Jan Letsos.
The family would like to thank Essentia St. Mary's Medical Cardiac ICU for the exceptional care they gave Carol and for the compassion shown to her family.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 31, from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service at United Presbyterian Church, 229 N. 28 th Street, Superior.
Burial is planned for a later date at the family grave site in Hebron, ND.
