Obituary

Cathy M. Miller, age 67, of Superior, passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Twin Ports Health & Rehab, Superior.

She was born on January 27, 1959, in Hibbing, MN. Cathy lived in Hibbing with her family before moving to Superior in 1965. She would attend school here, graduating with the class of 1977. Following graduation, she would attend WITC before beginning her career as a legal assistant, which spanned from 1979 until 2024, working with two law firms in the Superior area.

On September 24, 1983, she married Ronald Miller, beginning 43 wonderful years together filled with love, laughter, family traditions, and unwavering support for one another.

Cathy found joy in the simple things and the people she loved most. She loved being in the sun “without a single cloud in the sky,” cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Wild, volunteering at the Moose Club, attending parades in Superior, no matter the celebration, and faithfully watching her Chicago shows every Wednesday night. Some of her happiest moments were spent watching her children play sports, spoiling her family during the holidays, and sharing snacks with her dog Kirby and her grand pups.

She never missed an opportunity to make people feel special. Whether it was sending holiday cards, remembering every birthday with a thoughtful text, or putting together the most incredible Easter baskets and Christmas stockings for her children and their partners well into their adulthood, making everyone feel like family. Cathy made love feel effortless and constant. She was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

Cathy also enjoyed life’s little traditions: a black cup of Folgers coffee in the morning, a Miller Lite, or a vodka tonic with lime shared among family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Johnson; mother, Dorothy Johnson (Engebretson); brother-in-law, Randy Vicklun; and her best friend, Gwen Patnaude-Kahn.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Miller; son, Joseph Miller and his spouse, Karley; daughter, Kari Miller and her partner, Ashtyn; sisters, Dianne Johnson, Nancy Halverson (Troy), and Susan Vicklun; brother, Glenn Johnson (Carol); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all those lucky enough to know and love her.

A Celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday May 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Moose Lodge #606, 66 East 5th Street, Superior.

Cathy will be remembered for her sharp wit, great sense of humor, endless generosity, loyalty, traditions, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Life will not feel the same without her, but her family and friends will carry her memory with them in every holiday card, every parade, every Vikings game, and every small moment that reminds them of her.
