SUPERIOR
Cedric D. Johnson, 72, of Hawthorne, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at his residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born April 16, 1937, in Superior, son of Daniel and Helga Johnson.
Cedric served with the U.S. Army National Guard and was activated to Ft. Lewis, Washington, in the 1960's.
On June 10, 1989, Cedric was united in marriage to Carol J. Swanbeck in Ashland, Wisconsin.
His work history included truck driver for Ruan Transport, owner of Johnson Oil Company, rural letter carrier, dairy farmer with his father, beef farmer with his brother, Conrad, for over 25 years, and a heavy equipment operator.
Cedric served two terms on the Douglas County Board of Supervisors, was a member of the Rural Letter Carrier Retirees, was a member of the House of Hope Church, Lake Nebagamon, and served on its church board.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Amy Joy Williams; infant daughter, Lisa Johnson; and infant son, Calvin Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Carol J. Johnson; sons, Keith (Rose) Johnson, Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and Daniel (Heidi) Wadzinski, Washburn, Wisconsin; daughter, Lisa (David Hintz) Wadzinski, Stevens Point, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren, Mitchell, Justin, Joey, Dakota, Zoe, Sarah and Ashley; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (James) Anderson, Poplar; 2 brothers, Conrad (Sandy) Johnson, Hawthorne, and Courtney (Mary) Johnson, Poplar; 3 aunts, Edithe Johnson, Ruth Penton and Dr. F. Deborah (Charles Eid) Johnson; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The celebration of his life will begin with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the noon service Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the House of Hope Church, Lake Nebagamon, with Reverend John Raimo officiating.
Following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a luncheon that will be served in the Fellowship Hall.
The committal service will be held later this year at the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
