Obituary

Charles George Alger, 78 of Superior died in his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Charles was born on November 29, 1944, at his family's home in Thorp, WI to Grace (Pluntz) and Sherman Alger.  He graduated from North High School in Eau Claire, WI and went on to college for two years.   Charlie joined the US Marine Corps August 12, 1966, where he served Vietnam and was discharged on February 10, 1970.  He was a member of the VFW in Solon Springs.

He moved to Hudson, WI where he worked as one of the office personnel for Northland Electric and lived there until the factory closed.  Charlie then moved to Solon Springs and cared for his parents until they died, not long after he met his loving wife, Virginia.

Charlie loved fishing and hunting whenever he could, and he enjoyed just being in the woods.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; his four stepchildren, Ronald (Julia) Delong, Robert (Dawn) Delong, Leia (Todd) Scott, and Andria Melton; his brothers, Richard (Bondalin) Alger and Arthur Alger; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one great great grandson named after him.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 24th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St., with Rev. Darrell Kyle as officiant.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Solon Springs at a later date.
