Chester A. Sayler, 76, of Superior, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Superior Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Superior.
He was born December 21, 1939 in Elgin, North Dakota, son of Viola and Albert Sayler.
One of his many early accomplishments was becoming an Eagle Scout.
Chester proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines for four years and received an honorable discharge.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
He worked many years as a third mate sailing the Great Lakes with the Bethlehem Steel Fleet. He then worked for the Military Sealift Command on support ships for the U.S. Navy.
On September 27, 2002 in Superior, Chester Sayler and Marilyn Olson were united in marriage.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sisters, Joanne Daley and Carol Marvin.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, Superior; brother, Lloyd Sayler, Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11:00 a.m. service Monday, July 11, 2016, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Avenue, Superior. Pastor Gary Garnatz will officiate.
Committal prayers will be at Riverside Cemetery, Superior, where military rites will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.
