Obituary

Christopher (Kit) Rust Owen, 68, of Superior, WI, died Thursday, February 16, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

He was born in Eau Claire, WI, on April 9, 1948, the son of David and Dorothy Owen.

Chris was co-founder of the Antique Outboard Motor Club.  He served honorably in the US Navy from 1969 to 1973 during Vietnam and worked at CenturyTel, formerly Wisconsin Bell.

In his retirement, he volunteered as a floor guide at the Bong Museum for over 10 years.  Chris was a constant participant in the Wooden Boat Show at Barker's Island.  He was often seen at local car shows with his '56 Buick Convertible or little blue Goggomobil, always the guy to talk to, always the guy to tell stories.

Chris had a life-long love for Drummond, WI, Lake Owen, and the people who live there.

His family and friends will surely miss him.

He is preceded in death by his father, David Owen.

Chris is survived by his wife, Julie Owen; mother, Dorothy Owen; daughters, Kellianne Owen and Jennifer (Jeremy Gheen) Owen; sons, David (Amanda) Owen and Christopher (Heather) Owen; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, David Owen of Eau Claire, WI, Peter (Verena) Owen of Wintrop Harbor, IL, and Phillip Owen of Eau Claire, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

His visitation will be on Monday, February 20, at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19 th and Ogden, Superior, WI, from 2 until the 3 p.m. service.

Interment will be in Drummond, WI in early July.
