Obituary

Clarence A. Tollefson, 91, passed away on April 1, 2025 in St. Louis Park, MN.

Clarence was born in Superior, WI on March 29th, 1934, to Clarence H. and Marie E. Tollefson.

He graduated from Central High School, Superior, WI in June 1953. Clarence sailed the great lakes for two years, and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War August 5, 1954, through July 12, 1956. He met Donna L. Larson, and they married on June 7, 1958, and had three girls together.

Clarence ended up making his final place of employment at Murphy Oil Corp. in Superior, WI. He retired from his position as a Crude Operator, manager of the crude control units, in January 1996, after 38 yrs. Over the years he attended the Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN and WITI in Superior, WI taking auto mechanics, woodworking, and business classes to advance his personal knowledge and skills.

In his spare time, he enjoyed curling, woodworking, playing with his girls and grandchildren, assistant coaching for the YMCA swim team - where his girls swam, spending time at the cabin and lake home, swimming, boating, waterskiing, fishing, camping, Nordic skiing, biking, traveling, working on their property in Barnes, WI., biking in yearly bike rides to raise money for the American Diabetes Association, and playing a fun hand of cards with family and friends

Clarence was a member of the Barnes Community Church and a former member of Itasca Presbyterian Church, Superior, WI. He enjoyed volunteering at different events including the food shelf, the Trash-for-Cash sales, and made beautiful pieces of furniture for the church. In addition, he enjoyed bible classes, and reading his bible daily.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Marie Tollefson, and his brother Larry Tollefson.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Kim Pensini, Darla Tollefson and Deanna Tollefson; his grandchildren, Brianna and Deandra Pensini, Wesley Remington, and Ashley (David)Vanhout; his great grandchildren, Jace, Sylas, and Dale.

Military honors will be held at Greenwood Cemetery 2:00 p.m Monday, June 9, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N. 34th St. Superior, WI.  Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, WI. Military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
