Obituary

Claudia R. (Erickson) Solinko, 69, of Lake Nebagamon, WI died peacefully on  Wednesday May 25, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN, surrounded by family.

She was born in Superior, WI. on Mar 31, 1953, the daughter of Clyde and Signe (Packa) Erickson.

Claudia graduated from Utah State University and received her Master's degree from Southern Mississippi University. She lived in the Bear Lake, PA area while raising her three sons, of whom she was extremely proud.

Claudia was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, having taught in Warren, Pennsylvania for many years. Claudia loved to teach and interact with her students, and to hear from past students. She also served as the President of the local teacher's union, continually striving to improve the quality of education in the district.

Claudia was a cornerstone of her family and hosted many Holiday functions. Christmas was her favorite time, and she loved decorating the home for family gatherings, showing her love by giving handmade gifts.  Her family was extremely important to her.

Also important to her were the people and environment in Lake Nebagamon, where she loved kayaking and seeing the loons on the lake. One lifelong goal she attained was to return to the lake after retirement to spend time with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all.

Claudia also enjoyed quilting, golfing, gardening. Hiking and traveling in Arizona, Utah and Wyoming were especially enjoyable for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leland and Rodney Erickson.

Claudia is survived by her husband Tom Tobin of Green Valley, AZ (whom she met on a blind date in Warren, PA in May of 1994); sons, Scott, Steven, and Shawn Solinko; and siblings, Carol (Russell) Levine, Janet Buda, Warren Erickson, and Jack (Cheri) Erickson.

A Celebration of Claudia's life will be held at a later date.

Contributions in her name may be made to The American Cancer society.
