Clyde W.
Harvey
October 31, 1952 – November 18, 2022
Clyde Weston Harvey age 70, died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN on Friday November 18, 2022 with his family by his side.
Clyde was born on October 31, 1952 in San Diego California. Clyde and Jane met while working at Bible camp and were married for 45 years. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1978 and has served in full-time ministry for 49 years.
Clyde loved all things baseball and was a lifelong Padres fan, an avid sports memorabilia and baseball card collector, and owned countless baseball bobbleheads. He played, coached, and organized numerous softball teams throughout the years, and the Foothills Bible Bookstore Softball Team always had a special place in his heart. He was an antique collector and dealer, clip art expert, lover of fantasy football drafting, and enjoyed Hallmark Christmas movies year-round.
His life quote was "It's not what you know, but who you know." His heart was people, and always put people first in his life and his ministry. He was the master of connections and discipleship, and even up until his last moments he was making phone calls and caring for the lives of people around him.
Clyde has received a Bible certificate from the Berean School of the Bible, BA in Biblical Studies with a Pastoral Minor from Trinity Bible College, BA in Communications and Philosophy Minor from the University of Wisconsin Superior, and a MATS in Theological Studies from Central Christian University.
The Harveys invested 16 years of Youth Ministry in Southern California District leadership which included involvement with camps, conventions, training seminars, and the development of the Junior Varsity Club Ministry for Youth for Christ International and San Diego Youth for Christ. Transitioning into the role of Lead Pastor in 1989, the Harveys have pastored churches in San Dimas, California; Ellendale, North Dakota; Duluth, Minnesota; Mason City, Iowa; Biwabik, Minnesota; Superior, Wisconsin; and at the time of his death he was serving as the Pastor of Superior Covenant Church. He was nominated for the position of Chaplain of the House of Representatives, Washington D.C. in 1999. Clyde served in Campus Ministries at UWS and he has been published in periodicals such as Advance, Enrichment, Net Results, Vision , and has authored multiple books such as Something to Think About, Blessed or Stressed, and One Another.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Louise Harvey, and is survived by his wife Jane Harvey, sons Clyde Harvey Jr. and Wesley Harvey, his daughters Annie (Steve) Regstad and Mary Ellen (Erick) Hermanson, his sisters Michele Harvey and Carlynne Allbee, and his grandchildren Reagan Harvey, Kieran Harvey, Holly Hermanson, and Jack Hermanson.
Clyde's Celebration of Life will be held Friday January 20th, 2023 at Central Assembly of God in Superior, WI with a 10:00am coffee fellowship, 11:00am memorial service, and 12:00pm luncheon.
