Obituary

Curtis C. "Kiker" Wicklund, 90, of Superior, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth, with his step-daughter, Joan, by his side.

He was born April 11, 1925, in Superior, son of Carl and Eunice (Murphy) Wicklund.

Curtis proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He served in the Battle of the Bulge as an ambulance driver. He received the Victory Medal, Silver Battle Star, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Award.

Some of his interests included flying and working. He wanted to work 8 days a week, but his family would not let him.

His work included the Great Northern Railroad as a switchman on the Allouez ore docks and was owner of the Superior Freight Salvage for over 50 years.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marjorie Dillworth Wicklund; second wife, Julie Swanson Wicklund; son, Dan Wicklund; and daughter, Paulette Wicklund Lindberg.

Survivors include his son, Tom Wicklund; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jamey) Beebe and Derek (Michelle) Lindberg; great-grandchildren, Alex and Trevor Beebe; brother, Warren (Mary) Wicklund; step-children, Jim Swanson, John Swanson, Joan Turner, and Janet (Tim) Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Pastor Jenny Armstrong officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jim Swanson, John Swanson, Warren Wicklund, Jr., Tim Anderson, Alex Beebe and Steven Penney.

Committal will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
