Curtis D. Haas, 76, of Superior, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Viewcrest Health Center, Duluth, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 2, 1942 in Culver City, California, son of Elenore (Engstrom) and Elmer Haas.

In 1961, Curtis graduated from Northwestern High School.

Curtis honorably served our country with the U.S. Navy during the 1960's. Some of his service included the Cuban Missile Crisis and other parts of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

On July 24, 1965 in Carlton, MN, Curtis D. Haas married the love of his life, JoAnn Gerding.

For over 42 years, Curtis was employed at Koppers Industries, Superior. He also worked as a transport driver for NorthStar Ford.

Curtis was an avid sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed vintage cars and traveling. Curtis and JoAnn really loved driving to Tennessee, and often bringing their grandchildren with them. Curtis' life revolved around his family and spending time with them was always a priority. Some of that together time would be Curtis and JoAnn dining out at area restaurants.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, JoAnn; son, John Haas, Superior; daughters, Tara (Bill) Haas, Superior, and Tonya (Ryan) Lemieux, Green Bay; grandsons, Cody Strong, Bryler Herubin, and Colton Strong; and granddaughters, Taylor Cockerham and Ashley Lemieux.

A celebration of Curtis' life will be held at a later date.
