Obituary

Cynthia "Cyndy" M. Moore, 65, of Solon Springs and Superior, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth, MN surrounded by her family.

She was born July 1, 1950, in Superior, WI, daughter of Betty Lou (Hall) and Edmund Whitacre.

Cyndy worked many years in administration at the University of Wisconsin Superior. A favorite and long-time position she held at the University was as a co-manager at Wessman Arena, UWS.

She had a lifelong passion for crafting, even owning her own business known as Grandma Honey's Crafts. She also loved writing short stories, camping, hockey, figure skating, knitting, talking on the phone, spending time at the cabin. She spent many summers in both Lake Nebagamon and Solon Springs with her family. In recent years she spent time in her camper visiting sites around Wisconsin often near a casino where should could have a fun night out. A favorite snack that she always had around was Wisconsin Cheese Chips. She also loved spoiling her grandkids with love and special creative gifts that they treasured. They affectionately called her Grandma Honey.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth W. Moore on September 18, 2015; mother-in-law, Virginia "Sis" Moore on January 30, 2016; and nephew, Ryan Moore.

Survivors include her daughter, Dana (Ben) Carlson, Duluth; son, Russell (Sara) Moore, Superior; grandchildren, Paige Barnard, Mason Carlson and Ruby Moore; sisters, Nancy (Thomas) Beetcher, Superior, and Jayne (Kent Heilman) George, Minot, ND; brother, Mark Whitacre, Robbinsdale, MN; father-in-law, Verlyn "Vern" Moore, Superior; brother-in-law, Brian (Fran) Moore, Superior; and many nieces and nephews and a close circle of special friends.

Visitation will be starting at 10 on Saturday, April 2, 2016 with a service following at 12 p.m., at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Gary Banker officiating. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Cyndy at a luncheon following the service at Concordia Lutheran Church at 1708 John Avenue, Superior.

A private committal prayer and burial with family will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule, WI.

Memorials preferred to the National Kidney Foundation or a trust for Cyndy's grandchildren.
