Dale F. Mackey, 79, of Brule, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.
He was born May 29, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minn., son of Emily (Niemi) and Fred Mackey.
On January 22, 1955, in Duluth, Dale F. Mackey and Marlene S. Wilgren were united in marriage.
Dale was a heavy equipment operator for McClean Construction and RJS Construction.
His memberships included Local # 139, the National Rifle Association and Northern Beef Association.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, square dancing, snowmobiling and supporting Don Copp Racing.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Julie Hammer; grandsons, Donavon and Robert Mackey; and brother, Eugene Mackey.
Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Marlene; daughter, Johanna (Roger) Johnson, Brule; sons, Kurtiss (Julie) Mackey, Brule, Clarke Mackey, Brule, John (Marilyn) Mackey, Phoenix, Arizona, and Leslie (Laura) Mackey, Baraga, Michigan; son-in-law, Doug Hammer, Superior; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, George "Pete" (Shirley) Mackey, Barnes, Wis.; one niece and one nephew.
A memorial service will held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Hope Lutheran Church, Brule, with Reverend Scott A. Stai officiating.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
