Dan Newell passed away December 11, 2016 at his home in Brule, WI.

He was born in Superior on January 31, 1936 to Dwight and Elizabeth (Brownell) Newell.

Dan was a 1954 graduate of Superior Central High School. He served his country enlisting in the Army. On March 22, 1958, he married Darlene Weber.

He worked many years in retail positions, retiring from Poplar Hardware in 1998.

Dan enjoyed fishing the Brule, woodworking and life at his peaceful country home.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and outgoing personality.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter and son-in-law, Monika and George Martin; and step-sister, Ruth Nystrom.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Poplar, WI, on Saturday, January 28, 2016 from noon to 3p.m.
