Darlene Marie (Murphy) Wright, 84, of Duluth, passed away at the BeeHive Homes Assisted Living and Memory Care with her family by her side on Saturday October 10, 2026.
Darlene was born March 3, 1942, to Marie (Dallmann) and John Murphy in Duluth, MN.
She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1960. Darlene was employed in the banking industry for 33 years. Once retired, she enjoyed serving the kids as a lunch lady at Morgan Park Middle School.
She married Keith Miernicki on February 24, 1968, and together they had two beautiful girls, Karen and Kristine. Darlene later married Tom Wright on July 25, 1981, and they loved traveling together. She was a devoted wife and mother; and her daughters were the center of her world.
Darlene was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She looked forward to camping at Birch Grove in Iron River, WI each summer, was a member of the Red Hats, enjoyed playing Bunko and gardening.
Darlene cherished her family above all else, finding her greatest joy in the love and memories they shared. She had a selfless and generous heart, always willing to give of herself and help others without expecting anything in return. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with love, grace, and compassion. Darlene treasured the opportunity to travel, explore new places and create lasting memories along the way. Through every season of life, she reminded us of the importance of counting our blessings and being grateful for the gifts God places before us. Her love, faith and generous spirit will live on in all who knew her, and we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the loving arms of our Lord.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; her brothers-in-law, Norman Pletcher, Jack Krisak, and Al Gagne; and her sister-in-law, Caren Gagne.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bryan) Brandt and Kristine Miernicki; her brother, Robert (Marilyn) Murphy; her sisters, Marlene (Kim) Sorenson, Sharon (Ty) Frost, and Diane Pletcher; her sister-in-law, Jane Krisak; her nieces and nephews, Aaron (Christine) Pletcher, Laurie (Josh) Edwards, Miranda Frost, Andy Pletcher, Scott (Jordan) Krisak, Carrie (Kevin) Baylis, John (Jenn) Gagne, Shawn (Melissa) Murphy, and Ryan (Trudy) Murphy; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Darlene’s family extends our heartfelt gratitude to all the current and former staff at Beehive Assisted Living and Gentiva Hospice who cared for Darlene with compassion, kindness and love. Their patience, dedication and gentle care made a meaningful difference in her life and brought comfort to our family. We will always be thankful for the kindness you showed Darlene and the special place you hold in her story.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9503 Grand Ave., Duluth with Rev. Joel Brutlag as officiant. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, WI.
