Obituary

David Donald Ducado Menton II, age 42, of Solon Springs, passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2026, as the result of a horrific incident.

David was born on August 27, 1983, in Vernal, Utah, and began attending school in Solon Springs in 1989. From an early age, he stood out for his dedication and drive, excelling both academically and athletically. He earned numerous awards and recognitions, often making the difficult look effortless.

David will be remembered for his strength, heart, and unwavering perseverance. He had a natural gift for offering insight and guidance, often sharing thoughtful advice that uplifted those around him. With a brilliant mind and a smile that could light up a room, he faced life's challenges with resilience, maintaining an upbeat and lighthearted spirit even in difficult times. He had a remarkable ability to find the silver lining and bring laughter to others through his quick wit and sense of humor.

He was someone who could connect with anyone, having experienced many paths in life. David was a safe place for so many—a trusted listener, deeply empathetic, and understanding. He consistently put others before himself, demonstrating a selflessness that defined his character. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging to all who knew him.

David cherished his role as a loving son, determined father, protective brother, and loyal friend. He was the kind of person who showed up without hesitation—someone you could always count on.

He had a passion for life and a wide range of interests. He enjoyed martial arts, practicing with nun chucks, and bow hunting. He played pitcher for the Eagles baseball team and was first chair alto saxophonist throughout his high school years. He loved the outdoors—riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, and spending time fishing with his brother and nephew, Khylar. Music was a constant in his life, and he was never afraid to sing. His laughter and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Lowell Menton Sr.; his Son Javid Menton, his grandmother, Marjorie Menton; his grandfather, Donald Menton; and his uncles, Mike Menton and Mark Menton.

He is survived by his daughter, Taleah; his mother, Vicky (Jon), his brother, Nathan (Raquel), his sister, Patty, his nephews, Eddie, TJ, Khylar, and Kendall; aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind a circle of close friends who were as dear to him as family, along with a large and cherished extended family in the Philippines.

David's life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and strength. He endured hardships with grace and continued to move forward with determination and heart. His memory will live on in the lives he touched.

He will not be forgotten. May those who knew and loved him honor his life by carrying forward the kindness, loyalty, and unwavering support that he so freely gave to others.

David's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 30 at Pookies Pub and Grub, 12285 US Highway 53, Solon Springs, WI beginning at 2:00 pm.

A heartfelt message from his brother:

In a whole LIFETIME, you rarely, if at all, cross paths with individuals like David Menton. In an ocean of lights, he's the one radiating like the sun with No Effort.

My older brother was like a superhero to me growing up, he made me the best at everything, whether it was pitching in baseball, riding dirt bikes, 1st chair saxophone musicians, boxing, fishing, snowboarding, chess, playing guitar, while he sang to name a few of my many favorite hobbies. We were an Army of Two.

He had a presence about him that drew people in but also steered people away. A man with that much aura can be intimidating to some but not to his little brother. I have yet to meet his equal and sadly I know I never will. The battles my brother went through and conquered would destroy the average man. But most didn't even know because of how he carried himself. He chose to be polite, and respectful, kindhearted and had a contagious laugh.... if he had it you had it and he led by example. He could adapt to any situation and overcome it. If you had the honor of being around him, you knew he was a force to reckon with. He was on this planet for a reason. You could tell as soon as you met him. You know Lucier and an army of demons put in overtime when it comes to God's brightest lights. Think about David Menton's life, the weight of the galaxy on him and he didn't even break a sweat.... matter of fact, he did it cracking jokes, smiling and self-sacrificing. He wasn't perfect by any means, but he was a piece of the puzzle that made it complete and that's what made our whole world perfect.  If I know anything about Dave Menton, it's that you'll never forget him and his story isn't finished. Gigawaabamin (I'll see you again) Big Brother.
