David M. Lucia, 71, of Duluth passed away due to complications of multiple myeloma on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth.

David was born in Superior on April 1, 1951, the son of David S. and Josephine (Martineau) Lucia.

He married Shawn Lucht on Oct. 8, 2014, and they celebrated 8 years of marriage. He worked various jobs over the years and was most recently at Fond-du-Luth Casino.

David's family was most important to him. As a teenager, he left high school early to care for his mother. As he grew older, he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a great cook and loved cooking holiday meals. He also enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching movies especially horror movies, musicals, drawing, and telling stories. He would also spend time playing games on his phone and Facebook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Lucia, Sr.; granddaughter, Lyric Eades; and siblings, Mary Chiles, Carol Jacobson, George Martineau, and Chuck Josephson.

David is survived by his husband, Shawn of Duluth; son, Joseph (Nicole) Lucia of Bullhead, AZ; daughter, Susan (Mike) Lucia of Duluth; daughter-in-law, Wendy Lucia of Duluth; mother of his children, Linda Lucia; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13 ^th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. Superior. An Ojibwe prayer and drum ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will resume on Tuesday, March 14 ^th from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home with Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
