David M. Walters, 78, of Wascott, died Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

David was born in Chicago on Feb. 21, 1943, the son of Ralph and Katherine (Hoffman) Walters. He married Shirley Janke on April 9, 1966, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.

He worked for many years and retired from Machtronic in Minong where he was a machinist and customer service.

David enjoyed going camping. He was a charter member of the Wascott Fire Department and also served as Chief. He was a director and lay minister at the Wascott Church, and he was a deacon and lay minister at Bethel Baptist Church for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Karen (Ken) Holland of Mondovi, WI, Mike (Jenette) Walters of Rice Lake, WI, and Jason Walters of Wascott; grandchildren, Kodey (Elizabeth) Holland, Kasey Holland, Katherine (Austin) Johnson, Micaela and Hayden Walters, and Sydney and Rowan Walters; great grandchildren, Debbie, Will, and Theodore; brother, Ralph Walters; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Wascott Cemetery this Spring.
