March 30, 1941 – October 19, 2025
Dean Neumann, Solon Springs, WI and Pompano Beach, FL passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 84 at his residence surrounded by family.
Dean was born on March 30,1941 in Clinton, Iowa to Warren and Hazel (Cummings) Neumann. Clinton is on the Mississippi River, and he spent many summers water skiing and fishing on the river.
He graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. He served in the Army Security Agency from 1963-67 as a code interceptor. He was honorably discharged in 1967 with the rank of SP 5. He returned to school and earned his undergraduate degree from Nebraska State Teachers' College in Peru, Nebraska. He taught science for eight years in Northern Illinois and then moved to Superior, WI to pursue his Master's in Educational Administration. After graduating, he was hired in the Superior School District and served as principal of Cooper Elementary/Weisburg center, Central Jr. High and East Jr. High retiring in 1998.
He enjoyed antiquing, auctioning, landscaping, tending orchids in Florida, and spending time at the "shack" during deer hunting season with Shawn, Billy, Tom, Ryan, Dean B and Shad. He loved being a grandpa and was close to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jim Neumann.
Dean is survived by Terri, his loving wife of 36 years; daughter, Lisa (Paul) Rieken, Lakeville, MN, and son Shawn (Shawn Marie) Neumann, Hermantown, MN and Ft Lauderdale, FL; mother-in-law, Elmira Haack, Solon Springs, WI, and Davenport, Fl; grandchildren; Caleb (Ashley) Sabroski, Hope Sabroski, Mary Neumann, Emily (Shad) Renner, and Haley Neumann; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Noah; sister-in-law, Sharon Neumann Lee, Ft Dodge, Iowa; nieces, Lara (Darin) Cunningham and Jamie Neumann; brothers-in-law, Greg (Kathy) Haack, Grosse Pt. MI, Larry (Carolyn) Haack, Holland, MI, and sister-in-law, Pam (Lou) Degni, Cittá della Pieve, Italy; and Camilla Loftness, mother of his children.
A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 1:00 until 3:00p.m. at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terri and Dean Neumann Scholarship Fund, the Humane Society of Douglas County, or Essentia Hospice.
