Hopkins
May 22, 1927 – December 15, 2018
Delores Elaine Hopkins went to be with The Lord on Saturday, December 15 th , 2018. She was born to Orma Killoren and Elmer Canty on May 22 nd , 1927 in Superior, WI, and would become a lifelong resident.
Delores (Dode) was a wonderful, caring, and loving mother and grandmother, who was also very talented and creative. She loved to bake. Her claim to fame was her cookies, which she generously shared with neighbors and friends. Dode's cookie jar was always full. She was artfully creative with flower wreaths and arrangements.
She was a very active volunteer at her church, Pilgrim Lutheran, as well as the Superior Historical Society and Beverly Healthcare. She was also a Teacher Mom at the Weisman Center working with autistic children. She was a long time employee at Sears department store in Superior. She retired from Sears to her favorite job of all, being a grandmother.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Roy Killoren, her husband and the love of her life Harold 'Hop' Hopkins, twin daughters, Diane and LeAnn, daughters Julie Ann and Beverly Goulait, and brother David Killoren.
She is survived by her children Denise Hopkins-Flaven of Superior, Steve (Jeanne) Hopkins of Lake Nebagamon, David (Lynette) Steinmetz of Marshfield, Kevin (LuAnn) Hopkins of Superior, and Shannon Hopkins of Duluth. Delores had 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, whom she had a very loving and close relationship with; Beverly (Leroy) Hanson, Royann Killoren, and Kathy (David) Korhonen, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Twin Ports Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided to Delores over the years.
There will be a celebration of her life in the Spring with notification at that time. We will all miss her so much.
