Dennis J. Boortz, 80, of Superior, died Friday, October 5, 2018, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born September 13, 1938, in Superior, son of Arndt and Hildur (Lindgren) Boortz.

On November 7, 1960, in Superior, Dennis Boortz and Barbara Rink, were united in marriage.

Dennis was a self-employed carpenter, and worked at Diamond Tool, Duluth, and Lignell's Drug, Superior.

Some of his interests included movies, the outdoors, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, bowling, building bird houses, and working with his hands, on various projects for family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Barbara.

Dennis is survived by his children, Denise (Walter) Kujava, Dianna (Rachelle) Hills, and Darren Boortz, all of Superior; grandchildren, Samantha Boortz, Tabitha Boortz, Alex Boortz, Mekenna Hills and Mason Hills; brother, Warner (Darlene) Boortz, Hattiesburg, MS; sister, Nancy (Donald) Krob, Superior; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 9 ^th , at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior.  A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 10 ^th , at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
