Dennis J. Olson, 68, of South Range, WI, passed away in the comfort of his own home on September 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
He passed away due to complications of not wanting to spend his money on doctor co-pays and cancer did play a minor role in his demise.
He started his life on Dec. 14th, 1946 in Superior. He grew up in Allouez and ended his life in South Range. He worked hard his entire life to give his wife and daughters everything they needed or wanted. He enjoyed getting up early to go out and have coffee, catch up on current events and re-hash old stories.
He was a man of few words but was always listening. Even in the final seconds of his life, he still managed to make us all laugh. He will always be remembered for his funny quotes and sayings under a haze of his cheap cigar smoke.
After working for 22 years in the closed-in shop of Abex, he then got his dream job with Miners, Inc. of Super One Foods to travel the open road as a truck driver, AKA "Transfer Technician." He worked two jobs for most of his life. He only got to enjoy 2 ½ years of retirement.
He claimed not to be a ladies man but had the hearts of many. Including his wife of 45 years, Marcia; 2 daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Jablonski, and Rhonada (Dennis Line, Jr.) Sclavi; and 4 granddaughters, Kiana, Taylor, Carmen an Ella. Other family members are, a sister, Donna Mc Clellan; brothers, Jerry (Joan) Olson, Jay (June) Olson and many nephews and nieces.
His joys in life were simple; time with family, coffee with the guys, fishing when he could, and of course, golfing. No one can ever forget the smell of his cheap cigars. Always a good sport and ready for a good time. His famous life advise was "Do what you want," "you won't live any longer, it will just seem like it," and of course, "It doesn't have to be good it only needs to be cheap."
In lieu of flowers, Dennis requests that each of you do the unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone else in his name. Don't ever be afraid to ask for or give a hug. He loved his hugs!
