Dennis E. Wicklund, 66, of South Range, Wis., died Wednesday May 12, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn.
Dennis was born in Superior, Wis. October 12, 1943, the son of Ruby V. (Wolford) and Emil B. Wicklund.
Dennis enjoyed being a meat cutter and making sausage. Together he and his wife, Katherine had owned and operated the 21st Street Market, Howenstine's Grocery and Wicklund's Grocery in Billings Park. He was currently working at Adolph's Store in Adolph, Minn.
Dennis was an avid fisherman and especially liked ice fishing. He liked working in his garden. He enjoyed life and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen; brothers, John and Ralph; a sister Marvel; and two nephews, Timothy and Michael.
Dennis is survived by his wife of forty-six years, the former Katherine Krawza; his children, Greg (Jackie) of Hawthorne, Wis., Michelle (Mike) Walberg of Minnetonka, Minn., and Melanie (Shane) Mischke of Brule, Wis.; grandchildren, Nicholas (Ashley), Kaylee, Justin, Meghan, Tyler, Hailie and Makayla; two brothers, Carl (Sylvia) of Leesburg, Fla. and Daniel (Susan) of Superior; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Joanne both of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
His graveside service will be held Monday, May 17 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Francis Cemetery. Rev. Sarah Larsen, pastor of Our Saviors Lutheran Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Greg and Nicholas Wicklund, Shane Mischke, Mike Walberg, and John and Walt Krawza. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank and Butch Krawza.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
